Newbie with Long Chang LC-30A Mill. Hi, I'm an old guy that enjoys tinkering. This is my first mill. Recently picked up an old but functional LC-30A mill. I'm considering converting this to CNC on a budget. I will be looking for advice for a suitable kit or parts (motors, sensors, drivers) to "roll my own".
Does anyone know of long chang aka first mill/drill? Model LC-30A It looks like it was made in the 80s. I found a thread that said they were of good quality. Were they marketed under any other namebrands? What about parts or at least a parts breakdown. I also read that it may have a morse #3 taper not R-8. Not sure. Is that bad? If so how bad ...

I have 95" of overall height. It's 15" from the bottom of the base to the underside of the head when the head is cranked all the way down. The mill is 46" tall at the top of the column. @C-Bag yes there's a place nearby that rents hoists. That's my best best. I'm pretty sure my machine has the same hollow spot.
